Recently, I started learning the capitals of Africa. Now learning names of strange and remote places that you have no additional knowledge of is a difficult task. Still, I think capitals of countries is a great knowledge net, so I wanted to learn them. For seven days in a row I kept getting the capital of Morocco wrong on my daily worksheet. Some people might be discourage by this, but not ME. It is OK to get questions wrong. You are suppose to get questions wrong. A lot. So don't get discouraged by getting things wrong. The beauty of our system is that it has infinite patience. Get something wrong once or one hundred times and HomeSchool Advantage doesn't care. It will track those items that your are having trouble with and work with you patiently until you learn them. In the end, you will learn! The key is to keep coming back. If you are learning something new you are suppose to make mistakes. If you keep coming back day after day after day, before you know it, you will know what you want to know. I eventually learned that the capital of Morocco is Rabat. No struggle. No embarrassment. Patience and practice wins in the end. So relax. Guess at the answer. If it is wrong, try again tomorrow. Don't worry about getting questions right or wrong. Let the system worry for you! This lesson is especially hard or older students and adults, who have a need to get high scores on every test. Stop thinking that way. HomeSchool Advantage is a new way to approach learning. No more cramming. No more worrying about getting 100% on a test. We have replaced cramming with discipline. The discipline to come back every day and spend 10 minutes studying. Over time, discipline wins. You learn. And, even better, you learn in a way that helps you remember for years to come. Take me and Morocco. It took a week or more to learn the capital is Rabat because I kept forgetting it, but learn I did. HomeSchool Advantage now thinks I know the capital of Morocco well enough that it won't ask me the question again for at least another week. If I get it right next week, it may not ask me again for another month. Why, because it knows I am learning it so it knows I don't need to review it every day anymore. If you or your older students are having trouble getting motivated to use HomeSchool Advantage, it is probably because of worry about getting questions wrong. Don't worry. Just come back again tomorrow and try again. HomeSchool Advantage is a game you play by yourself, and the way you win is by coming back. Over time, you will get the correct answers, I promise you. So stop worrying, and start learning. We will make you into a brilliant student even if it takes you seven times to remember the capital of Morocco? Sure we will. Now what is the capital of Gabon? - Tom Thomas Meloche President HomeSchoolAdvantage.com Remember: A typical student will forget as much as 80% of what they learn within just 30 days.
